Wild Plum Tree
Native to America, wild plum tree is a type of trees bearing delicious plums. Their fruits are far smaller than the average plums which you can find in a fruit store. It is a deciduous tree which will shed all their leaves in autumn. Some wild plum species can grow up to 6 meters in height although most of them are small and look more like a shrub than a common tree.
A wild plum tree usually has more than one trunk, and this is one of its most distinguished features to differentiate wile plum from other trees. They have slim branches which are covered with small thorns. If you need a tree which can increase the colours for your spring garden, wild plum should be one of your choices. They can produce small white blooming in spring with green foliage. The foliage will turn yellow in autumn. The fruits are a great food for both animals and people. The colour of the fruits will turning from red to brown when they are ripening. The plums are good food to attract birds to come to your garden. Also, you can make jams from these plums for you family as well.
Most wild plums are only found in wild environment where the climate is cold and harsh. They generally do not like warm climates and can survive in most soil types. They are hardy enough to resist very drought environment. They need little maintenance when well established. So, they can be a good choice for tree choices for places where there are few attentions from people. Its tiny size makes it a good choice for specimen or potting purposes.
