Many trees will turn the foliage colour into yellow or red in autumn. However, some trees have purple foliage trees which will show attractive purple leaves. They bring different landscape and add extra value for the fall garden. Some of these trees can produce fruits which can attractive birds or animals as well.


The Canada Red Chokecherry is one of the popular purple foliage tree species which also produce beautiful blossoms in spring season. As a small-sized landscaping tree, it can grow more than 20 feet in height with a similar spread. The fragrant white flowers will bring extra value to your garden. It will produce purple fruits in late summer which are usually consumed as snacks or used to make jams. These fruits are also a good source to attract wild animals to visit your yard. In autumn, the foliage will turn into purple from its original green colour.

Krauter Vesuvius is a well known purple foliage tree which also produces pink blossoms in summer. It is a small garden tree which can grow no more than 20 feet in height with the same width. It prefers well-drained soil conditions with adequate sunlight. You can think of planting them if your home is located in warm zones. They need frequent pruning and maintenance during the growth for good shape and health.
