Cactus Combo Bonsai
Cactus combo bonsai is a special type of bonsai which uses cactus as the base plant. Unlike other container plants, it can grow well without the needs for much attention from people. Due to the cactus own desert-adaptive characters, it needs very little water and light to survive. Thus this plant is an ideal choice for bonsai novice and people without too much spare time to look after their indoor plants.
Normally, a potted cactus combo is a bunch of cacti plants of various sorts. The best candidates for these cacti are those with similar nature, growth speed and requirement for resources. Although they can survive from little light, plenty of sunlight is still necessary to produce a well grown plant. The key factor to maintain a cactus bonsai is how to water them. Cactus are desert tolerate plants which can survive with very little water. Too much water will make them drown and make their root rot. Normally they should not water more than once for three or four weeks. In winter times, overwatering will make them enter dormant state. The best container for cultivating of cactus bonsai is glazed ceramic containers which should be at least 30cm in height. Big pots will result in an unbalanced view in your room.
Cactus combo is a very good candidate for your indoor decoration purposes. Using some colourful containers is a good choice to make it look good. If you are unwilling to repot your plant, doing some painting on the original pot is a good idea too. Sometimes you may need to do some pruning work to make them grow along with the direction you prefer. Most cactus combo bonsai will not grow over 30cm which is a perfect plant to bring some hint of green colour to your home.
If you do not have time to cultivate your own cactus plants, you can get one from the local nurseries which should have a bunch of potted plants for sale. Regarding the arrangement, you have lots of options from the simplest single arrange to a complex multi-arrangement one. If you prefer to add some colours on your desk, you can choose some cactus species which flower from time to time.
