Asian Jasmine Ground Cover


Asian Jasmine is a popular ground cover plant which is chosen by lots of gardeners to decorate their gardens. It needs very little maintenance during their growth and the rapid spreading can quickly provide a beautiful carpet for the bare areas in your backyard. The can tolerate cold weather and drought environment as well. They can also survive in most soil types including clay coil and sand soil. You do not need to spend too much time to provide water or fertilizer to them, and they can grow very well by themselves. Since it is not easy to grow them from the scratch, the best way to cultivate them is to grow them from cuttings.


Asian Jasmine plants prefer partial shade areas instead of a place with full sunlight. To make them grow healthy and quicker, some organic matters can be used to provide extra nutrients to them. The compost layer should not be thick, and a two or three inch layer is adequate for their growth. Before planting the plant, you should turn over the soil thoroughly to facilitate the air circulation. The hold for putting the plant roots should be as twice large as the plant pot. If you must plant multiple plants in one garden, remember to leave adequate space to avoid the inference of each other.

After transferring the plant from the container into the soil, remember to apply adequate water during the first couple of weeks. Some fertilizers can be applied once it is planted. Nitrogen can make them spread quickly and healthy. In the first year, you should keep the soil moist if there not enough rainwater. In cold winter days, you need to do some pruning work to cut it short to preserve the resource for the coming year.
